The Rheumatoid Factor (RA Factor) Test is a blood test that detects rheumatoid factor (RF)—an autoantibody that targets the body’s own tissues. RA Factor is most commonly associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), an autoimmune disorder that causes chronic joint inflammation.
While the presence of RA Factor is a key indicator of rheumatoid arthritis, it can also be elevated in other conditions, including:
Sjogren’s syndrome
Lupus (SLE)
Chronic infections (e.g., tuberculosis, hepatitis)
Certain cancers
