The Dengue IgG/IgM Card Test is a rapid immunochromatographic assay used for the qualitative detection of IgG and IgM antibodies against the Dengue virus in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. It is an essential tool for the serological diagnosis of dengue fever, especially when the NS1 antigen is no longer detectable.
IgM antibodies typically appear 4–5 days after infection and indicate recent or current infection.
IgG antibodies appear later and may indicate a past infection or secondary dengue.
This test is helpful in differentiating between primary and secondary dengue infections. Results are available within 15–20 minutes, making it highly useful in clinical and point-of-care settings. Although this test is convenient and rapid, positive results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings and may require confirmation through ELISA or PCR in certain cases.
