The WIDAL Tube Test is a serological test used for the diagnosis of typhoid and paratyphoid fever, caused by Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi. It measures agglutinating antibodies (O and H) in the patient's serum against the Salmonella antigens using the tube agglutination method. A rising antibody titre or a high single titre may indicate an active infection. This test is especially helpful in areas where typhoid fever is endemic and is commonly used when cultures are negative or not possible.
