The HCV Rapid Test is a fast and convenient screening tool used to detect antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in a blood sample. The presence of these antibodies indicates that a person has been exposed to the virus, either through a past or current infection.
This test is commonly used for:
Individuals with risk factors for Hepatitis C,
Blood donors,
Pregnant women,
And people with unexplained liver function abnormalities.
The test provides results within 15–30 minutes, making it suitable for point-of-care or field use, especially in areas with limited laboratory access. A positive result means the person has been exposed to HCV, but it does not confirm active infection. Follow-up testing with HCV RNA PCR is required to determine if the virus is currently active in the body.
Early detection of HCV is important for initiating treatment, preventing liver damage, and reducing the risk of transmission to others.
