The ANC Profile is a comprehensive diagnostic panel recommended during pregnancy to monitor the health of both mother and fetus. It includes:
CBC (Complete Blood Count): Evaluates overall blood health by measuring hemoglobin, RBCs, WBCs, platelets, and detecting anemia or infections.
Blood Grouping & Rh Typing: Determines the blood group and Rh factor. Crucial for identifying Rh incompatibility that can lead to complications in pregnancy.
RBS (Random Blood Sugar): Screens for gestational diabetes by measuring blood glucose levels at any random time.
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus): Mandatory test in pregnancy to prevent vertical transmission (mother-to-child) and ensure timely ART initiation if positive.
HBsAg (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen): Detects hepatitis B virus infection, which can be transmitted to the baby during delivery.
HCV (Hepatitis C Virus): Identifies hepatitis C infection, important to prevent neonatal transmission and liver complications.
FT4 (Free Thyroxine) & TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone): Assesses thyroid function. Thyroid disorders can affect fetal brain development and pregnancy outcome.
Urine Routine (Urine-R): Detects urinary tract infections, proteinuria, glycosuria, and other renal or metabolic disorders that are common in pregnancy.
This profile helps in early detection of risks, timely medical intervention, and better prenatal care management.
