The Conventional Pap Smear (Papanicolaou test) is a widely used gynecological screening test that involves collecting cells from the cervix using a spatula or brush. The sample is then smeared directly onto a glass slide, stained, and examined under a microscope for cytological abnormalities.

This test helps detect:

• Pre-cancerous and cancerous changes in cervical cells

• Infections (e.g., bacterial, fungal, or viral such as HPV)

• Inflammatory conditions
