The Testosterone test measures the level of testosterone hormone in the blood. Testosterone is a male sex hormone (androgen) primarily produced in the testes in men and in smaller amounts by the ovaries in women and the adrenal glands in both sexes.

In men, testosterone plays a key role in developing male sexual characteristics, maintaining muscle mass, bone density, mood, and fertility. Low testosterone levels can lead to reduced sex drive, fatigue, depression, erectile dysfunction, and infertility.

In women, elevated testosterone levels may be linked to conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), causing symptoms such as irregular periods, acne, and excess hair growth.

This test is used to evaluate hormonal imbalances, infertility, sexual dysfunction, puberty disorders, and to monitor testosterone replacement therapy.
